Lisbon

HAILING from Whitley Bay, Lisbon are an alt-pop four-piece with dreamy textures and tracks that are nigh on impossible not to find yourself singing along too. They handled the festival circuit impressively well last year, managing to gain new faces to their fanbase, which has put them in good stead for 2016.

The band, who headlined Close-Up Festival in Hampshire last year, have a number of tracks under their belts. 'Khaleesi' hits all the right notes and glistens with polished beats and catchy lyrics; it's destined to be a hit.

'Rio' unravels with a seductive guitar lick that keeps you gripped throughout the rest of the sub-four minute track. Frontman, Matthew Varty sings: "It's like dancing in Rio" but there are no Duran Duran comparisons to be made here. Lisbon seem to have already found their stride and they surge with ambition and they've certainly got a winning formula about them.

Debut track 'BLUELOVE' went down a storm when it was released, it was added to Radio 1's playlist and Varty spoke to The Chronicle saying: "We've always had a vision for our sound, but it's definitely evolved over time. We're influenced by the bands we love; therefore there have often been comparisons to acts such as Little Comets and Foals.

"But recently we've been trying to aim towards something new, our music has become more electronic, not juxtaposing what we used to do, merely improving it. I would describe our music as juicy oozing alt-pop - with unforgettable guitar riffs, captivating choruses, and songs full of energy."

Lisbon are about to embark upon a massive tour twenty one date tour this month - you'd be a fool to miss it. We're predicting big things for Lisbon in 2016, so show them some love and support their sound.
