Preview: Native People + Support @ The Joker

CLOSE UP Promotions are bringing their monthly showcase back to Brighton for another shindig filled with some of the finest bands on the South Coast. On 23rd June, Native People will headline The Joker with support coming from Sahara, Dance a la Plage and Fabrics.

Anthemic indie foursome Fabrics will kickstart proceedings on the night. The band, who hail from Basingstoke, formed a matter of months ago but have already received support from the likes of BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio. They've also toured with Marsicans and have put out a pretty impressive first release in the form of 'Beachhead'.

Dance a la Plage are as indie-friendly as it gets and that's why they've been garnering support consistently for a while now. Dropping into an old school Arctic Monkeys style beat on tracks such as 'Matilda'. Expect the Banbury four-piece to bring material old and new to The Joker.

Brighton via London bunch SAHARA have set themselves up in great stead with a successful first six months of 2016. Having previously played at the Central Brighton venue on previously, their return will make for an impressive penultimate slot, especially when they drop their cover of Major Lazer's 'Lean On.

Headliners Native People are playing this very special showcase as part of their summer tour leading up to the release of their new EP. The band are known for their feel-good indie-pop vibes and euphoric sound that has the knack for making you want to get up and dance. The Folkestone five-piece are hotly tipped for success and previous singles such as 'Don't Save Me' and 'Calm Forever' are testament to this. Make sure to catch them at The Joker on one of their many nationwide summer tour stops.
