As well as the album announcement, Faris Badwan and co dropped their first single in three years, 'Machine', and revealed plans for a lengthy UK tour, which is set for later in the year and will include a show at the University of Sussex in Brighton.
Speaking of the different direction The Horrors have taken on their upcoming LP, frontman Faris Badwan said: "It is a risk, but life isn't much fun without risk.
"It's the antithesis of being creative if you know what you're going to be doing every time."
Bandmate and keyboardist Tom Cowan added: "It's natural, if you do see yourself as an artist, to progress and not play it safe.
"Bowie pre-empted the modern condition of not being able to stay in one place for very long, and I get frustrated with bands who stay still. Because then it does become a career."
'V' is out on 22nd September via Wolf Tone/Caroline.
The Horrors will play at the Attenborough Centre for Creative Arts at the University of Sussex in Brighton on 28th October.
