Suffolk singer-songwriter Bessie Turner enjoyed a remarkable debut in 2017 with her first single 'Big Sleep'. The upbeat, melodic number garnered approval from Huw Stephens and earned her a spin on BBC Radio 1. Fast forward a few months and Turner landed a slot at Latitude Festival and is now on a fast track that is seeing greater numbers of people latch onto her charming sound.
Turner, who got her start by uploading tracks to BBC Introducing, was recently hailed as a 'superstar in the making' by the team; one listen to her latest release is enough to see why.
'Words You Say' contains a distinctive nod to punk and is rumoured to be inspired in part by Parquet Courts. The track begins with Turner's wistful vocals taking on a delicate tone before twisting into something heavier as the beat kicks in. Bound to be a sure hit, every ingredient works on Turner's latest accomplished effort. Jo Whiley agrees too, the track was given its world premiere by the BBC Radio 2 DJ.
Expect to see more of this exciting new talent in 2018, particularly as Bessie Turner has recently been announced to play this summer's Truck Festival in Oxfordshire.
