Lana Del Rey 'West Coast'

LANA DEL REY has premiered the first single from the forthcoming album 'Ultraviolence'. 'West Coast' which was unveiled during the singer's Coachella performance, was produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and recorded in Nashville.  Del Rey labelled the track as: "So wrong and exquisite. It is absolutely gorgeous - darker than the first."
The meandering first cut is a swirling slice of psych that grips with crunchy percussion and lulling beats. Del Rey's breathy pillow talk vocals softly croon as the dreamy slow-building sound alerts fans Lana is definitely back on form.
If this is a taste of what to expect from future material, we're surely in for a treat. The singer throws in cascading melodies with a much needed dose of slow burning intensity that keeps giving until the last note fades out.
'West Coast' is released via Polydor Records and will be available to download on May 18.

WATCH: Queens of the Stone Age 'The Vampyre of Time and Memory'

WATCH the teaser trailer for Californian desert rockers Queens of the Stone Age's forthcoming video 'The Vampyre of Time and Memory'. Enlisting the directorial talents of Kii Arens and Jason Trucco, the band have created an 'interactive' video that will be unveiled to fans on October 30th.

Made in conjunction with The Creators Project, the minute long trailer features frontman Josh Homme surrounded by a questionable amount of taxidermy. The musician also holds a cane and turns to stare piercingly into the camera - what's not love?

It was recently announced that Queens of the Stone Age will embark on a co-headline tour of Australia in 2014 with Nine Inch Nails. The headliners for each night of the tour will be decided by a coin toss to keep it equal.

An announcement on Nine Inch Nails' Tumblr page read: "The first headline band on stage will be decided each night by the toss of a coin. The eight date run is set to begin at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on 6 March, 2014 and continue on visiting Newcastle, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland and Christchurch."

Burning Condors 'Last Train Home'

Following the release of their debut album 'Round Our Way' last month, London four-piece Burning Condors are back with the brilliant 'Last Train Home'. The track sees the group sounding like they've spent far too much time holed up in Joshua Tree with Josh Homme and co; expect a storm of frenzied beats and chest-thumping volume.

A tune that is likely to see them heighten their standing, 'Last Train Home' opens with a riff that allows them to sound like returning heroes. Whilst, we find them in stoner rock mode once more, the tired comparisons to Queens of the Stone Age can well and truly be dropped - Burning Condors craft music that is undeniably theirs time and time again and will unquestionably propel them to further success.

'Last Train Home' is released via Snakehand Records on Monday October 28th.

Haim 'Edge'

After dropping their debut record 'Days Are Gone' a few weeks back, that went on to take the number one spot in the UK album charts, the Haim sisters (hailing from California) are back with a fresh cut, co-written with Twin Shadow (George Lewis Jr).

'Edge' holds the same fresh-faced appeal to that of album track 'Forever', whilst middle sister Danielle's vocals delivers to an impressively high-standard on vocal duties. Elder sibling Este, known for her infamous 'Bassface' incorporates bass chords that underline the sound and serve as a driving beat.

Haim consistently craft tracks with glossy backdrops and 90s R&B harmonies, with 'Edge' being no exception. Although, this tune stays firmly away from the edge, cowering in the middle of a sound we've become comfortably familiar with. Let's hope they amp up the rock'n'roll on the next offering.

Haim 'The Wire'

They haven't released an album yet, and although iTunes is jam-packed with their glitzy retro EP's, you could easily forgive us for wanting more from Haim. Consisting of three sisters, with long flowing hair and attitude almost as impressive as the tunes, Alana, Danielle and Este are native Californians and they have crushed our longing, by dropping new track The Wire.

A radical step up from previous material, it appears all that time holed up in the studio, gearing up for their debut album has added new dimensions to the trio's sound. Slick layered guitar phrasing, assertive vocals and sharp guitar hooks are a triple threat Haim have pieced together to their advantage; they certainly know the formula for crafting a track that energises you.

To call The Wire otherworldly would be taking it a tad too far. Whilst the group have heated up the musical climate, the usual Haim-isms are present. With any of their songs, it's not too hard to imagine Este pulling that bass face and the trio do have a tendency to concentrate on cascading vocal harmonies.

Haim have many things going for them, but the one that draws our attention is the fact that with their searing guitars and faint echoes of Fleetwood Mac, they always remain unapologetic. It's clear they're making music for themselves and if others latch on then great. However, the lingering question here is how do we get hair like Haim?
