CloseUp Promotions are fast becoming one of the leading live promoters and booking agents in London and the Southern area. Now they are teaming up with ticketing giants, Ticketweb, to bring you a new series of monthly showcases specialising in bringing you the best indie, rock and electronic sounds to the iconic Bleach in Brighton.

The first showcase will take place on August 18th and locals lads, The Island Club will headline their hometown gig. As one of the most talked about and exciting new bands around, the Brighton five-piece were propelled into the spotlight by their recent single 'Let Go' and have since seen success come their way. Most notably, their set at The Great Escape Festival in May saw an outstanding turnout and they have been gigging hard to build up an even bigger support for themselves. The band are now primed for more performances in the coming months, including a slot at Brighton's Together The People Festival in September, Expect a packed room for what is likely to be one of their last intimate performances for quite some time.

Brighton/Southampton four-piece, Howland are another new group making waves on the South Coast. 2016 has seen them go from strength to strength with the release of their debut single 'Callout' and a debut tour under their belts. The band have also spiked the attention of Fickle Friends, Clean Cut Kid and High Tyde previously, which has led to a sizeable growth in their following. Howland are a band who get better with each and every performance and whilst their golden moment is still to come, it will be exciting to see what they have for us at Bleach.

JUDAS are no stranger to a close-up night. The London-based band have a captivating live performance that will get you on your feet in no time. Anthemic tracks like 'Sister' and 'Youth of the Young Age' go down a storm live and have fast become fan favourites. This is one outfit who are certainly gearing up to go places, make sure to get down to the London Road venue to catch their set.

Brighton four-piece, SEATS will open on the night. All four members of the band are currently enrolled at BIMM and have managed to gather a decent following in such a short space of time to their credit. Their music is the perfect sound to open the first night of what it set to become an established local showcase in Brighton.

LIVE REVIEW // Judas @ The Barfly, Camden 29.01.16

IT'S Friday night and The Barfly in Camden is packed out in anticipation for London-based outfit Judas. The iconic venue has previously played host to the likes of Blur, Oasis and The Strokes and tonight Judas are the latest band to grace the stage before they go stadium, just like those who have gone before them.

Support comes from the Wolf Alice backed band Vinyl Staircase and Damn Beats, who made an impressive debut at the North London venue but the real thrill of the night comes as Judas take to the stage. Lights lower and and music builds as the four-piece make a grand entrance.

Frontman, John Clancy cuts a bewitching figure and is dressed every inch the rock star head to toe in black. His fellow band members are equally as stylish and geared up for a head-turning set. A few technical issues at the start would be enough to knock some band's confidence but Judas take it in their stride, using it as an opportunity to get the crowd clapping along and cheering with support.

'Call Me' is the first track to be played from last year's four-track EP 'We Are Judas'. Everything about frontman John Clancy makes him seem ready for stages far bigger than that of The Barfly. The fearless force of the band gives way to crowd members dancing with wild, carefree abandon. Tracks such as the blistering 'Sister' sees Clancy's Liverpudlian lilt take centre stage, backed by reverb-laden guitar lines.

The crowd also have a little sway to 'Love Is The Enemy' which sees the promise of a bright future draw even closer within their reach. It's a slower-paced tune that enables Clancy's vocals to fully reach their full potential, draped over captivating instrumentation and giddy guitar hooks on this swooning centrepin.

The energy of the set never lets up for a second and the four-piece choose to end on 'Youth of the Young Age'. It's a glorious conclusion and everyone's dancing and singing their hearts out to the anthem that acts as an effortless example of a band working as an unstoppable unit.

Judas take inspiration from seasoned artists such as U2 and Kings of Leon but rework their influences into something much cooler and appealing. Despite their relatively short existence, they manage to sound stadium-ready and we predict it won't be long before they're tackling the venues they so deserve to claim as their own.

JUDAS

LONDON four-piece, JUDAS exist somewhere between Kings of Leon and The Hunna, already sounding stadium-sized despite having only released one EP to date. With an impressive resume that includes multiple gigs across venues in the capital such as The Good Ship and a support slot for Pure Youth at The Barfly in Camden; Judas' future is looking ridiculously bright.

Latest track, 'Sister' is a four-minute masterpiece complete with surging guitars, an anthemic blown-out chorus and a raw and ambitious energy tucked away at the heart of the track. 'Youth of the Young Age' is a growing, euphoric tune swollen with energised beats that greets listeners with a no frills approach.

Even on downbeat moments such as that of 'Love Is the Enemy' there's a seductive quality that lurks beneath the surface. It has the beginnings of a brilliant ballad, which turns out to be a full-blown epic. If you're looking to be dazzled, you've come to the right place.

JUDAS produce resonating anthems with opulent instrumentation and inflected with sleek hooks that will evoke serious envy amongst their peers. This is a band who are destined to be big. Expect them to blow the industry wide open.

JUDAS will be playing at The Barfly in Camden on January 29th with Bare Traps supporting. Tickets can be bought here
