Daft Punk 'Get Lucky'

With the striking falsetto of Pharrell Williams and recognisable guitar riff from Nile Rodgers, electronic duo Daft Punk's latest offering is a chilled delight with tumbling grooves and resurgence of the 70s seeping from its core. It's hardly a transitional record, yet the french duo have constructed a devilishly catchy tune, especially with lyrics such as "We're up all night to get lucky".

In the same vein as previous efforts, Get Lucky has disco funk vibes glinting through and the track's crisp production enables them to take it to the next level. This may be the first song Daft Punk have released in eight years, but this breezy jam will certainly see fans aching for more. All will be revealed with the release of their next record Random Access Memories on 21st May.

The Colliers

The Colliers are a five piece indie rock band from North Lincolnshire, brimming with potential and slices of authentic rock'n'roll. Last year, the young band showcased their piercing talent and blissed out lad rock to audiences at Sheffield's Tramlines Festival, as well as a slot at Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Official After Show Party in Liverpool's 02 Academy. Following last year's triumphs, North Lincolnshire's most exciting emerging band are set to record their first EP, entitled Who Forgot The Parachute.

Their latest offering comes in the form of Kids, an insanely hummable track with a streak of experimentality. Whilst the opening sounds similar to Noel Gallagher's (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach, there are distinctions that mark their differences, although the vocals do have a tendency to drift into the elder Gallagher's territory at times. The breezy, soulful jam takes it to another level as we approach the forty five second mark. With a heavy strumming sequence, chugging guitars and a satisfying ending, we are left both in awe of The Colliers and eagerly craving more from them.

The Colliers are set to appear at Crooked Ways Festival in North Yorkshire this June.

Clever Criminals

Clever Criminals are a snarling rock'n'roll group from the North West crafting impressive guitar tracks and charming a legion of fans onto their side. Having won Liverpool Rocks: Battle Of The Bands last year, the band consisting of Joe Tarpey, Scott Adair, Patrick McKeon and Marc Terry are ready to conquer with their fresh sound that leaves you wondering why you haven't heard of them before.

Their newly released demo She Said opens with a fast paced guitar riff, before all intensity is dropped allowing vocals to blossom and hearts to fall wildly in love with these northerners and their slice of fired up rock. The demo is laced with a thrilling beat and relatable lyrics that you will no doubt be singing along to. Their chord progressions are sleek and perfectly placed, leaving listeners hooked and aching for more of their electrifying masterpieces.

Whilst Clever Criminals have not yet received much coverage in the media, they are gigging on a magnitude that cannot be ignored, with other upcoming local bands. If you want to catch the group live then head down to their show at Elevator Studios this Saturday (6th April) in Liverpool.
