Brighton quartet The Magic Gang have delivered their strongest statement to date on 'EP Three', released via Felix White of The Maccabees' label Yala Records. 

After drip-feeding fans two frenzied and energetic EP's previously, their third release serves as a melodically adventurous experiment whilst retaining the vintage charm that won a gaggle of fans over in the first place.

'Hotel Apathy' is a throbbing, dreamy cut that has quite clearly been crafted with exuberance and ease. Powered by riffs that remind you why you fell for the band so hard the first time, the EP's opening number is a sharp and emotive assault on the senses that will have you hitting repeat in seconds. 

Lead single 'How Can I Compete' ups the pace and is built upon gripping melodies and big, jubilant choruses. Destined to be chanted back at them at future shows, tracks like these are their making. 

'No One Else' is nothing dramatically different but the heart-stopping beauty of a tune still manages to hit all the right notes. Closing number 'Life Without You' sees the pace slowed considerably down once more as they tunefully depart.

Combining honeyed harmonies and simplistic instrumentation, the track presents a different side to the gang of melody makers and they come off sounding all the better for revealing it to us. 

Shamelessly retro from the off, 'EP Three' is a timely reminder of The Magic Gang's terrific nature and one that will see them head determinedly in the direction of the big time.

Roll up, roll up, The Magic Gang will be returning to Brighton on 13th April for a special homecoming show.

The four-piece have been destined for greater things since their inception but there's nothing wrong with returning to your roots to give back to the city that made you - that's exactly what The Magic Gang will be doing next month.

Teaming up with Dork Magazine and Bushmills Irish Whisky (because who doesn't love whisky, right?) the indie heroes will ensure hysteria with their singalong choruses and head-bopping 50s' indebted numbers.

The tour is part of the wider Bushmills Tour, which will see some of music's finest new acts that have experiences success take to a number of Britain's most iconic smaller stages.

The likes of VANT, The Wytches and We Are Scientists will also perform on select dates throughout the tour.

The Magic Gang are set to release their third EP, which is aptly called 'EP Three'. 

Released on Felix White of The Maccabees' new label, Yala! Records, the EP will be out on 24th March - pencil it in. 

The band's latest single 'How Can I Compete' was first played on Mistajam's Radio 1 show recently and is the first track to be aired from the new EP.

2016 has been filled with plenty of political unrest, celebrity deaths and a whole host of bad decisions, but the one constant has been the significant amount of decent tunes made and new bands discovered. In no particular order, we give our two cents on the best EP's to land in our laps this year.

Estrons - She's Here Now

Welsh newcomers, Estrons have released a steady stream of singles this year, but it was their November EP that truly saw them stand apart from the rest. 

'She's Here Now' saw the female-fronted group deliver biting lyricism throughout 'I'm Not Your Girl. Front woman, Tali spoke of the track saying: "It's a big song about insecurities and that cesspool of crap surrounding teenage emotions that still exist in your 20s and 30s."

The four-piece stand in good stead for 2017 and look set to continue the fury that propelled them throughout 2016.

The Magic Gang - The Second EP From

These Brighton babes have charmed their way to the top with their brand of throwback 50s-tinged doo wop. Their second EP was fronted by the smash single 'All This Way' and saw them bank another four slices of gold in their discography. 

There's whispers of an LP on the cards in 2017 but fans would be more than satisfied with another EP if it was anything like their last. 

Flume - Skin Companion EP l

By the time Aussie DJ Flume dropped the 'Skin Companion EP l' at the end of November, fans had long been hyping up the release. Were they disappointed? No. 

The EP picked up where Flume (aka Harley Edward Streten) left on his latest LP 'Skin'. The four-track release was only available on 12-inch vinyl and fans could only get their hands on a copy from independent record stores, adding to the appeal of offcuts. 

'Heater' was undoubtedly the standout track with high-energy, flashy beats and an absence of vocals. It was slick, stylish and subtle enough to work its way up as a contender for track of the year amongst many dance/electro fans. 

Look out for more sure-fire hits as Flume has expressed an interest in releasing more 'Skin' companion EPs in 2017. 

The Big Moon - The Road

It's been an exciting whirlwind of a year for North London's The Big Moon. Juliette, Fern, Soph and Celia who make up the four-piece have gigged relentlessly and built up a pretty impressive following in the procedure. 

They've toured with cult-indie British band, Mystery Jets this year, but it was their January EP release titled 'The Road' that saw them really come into their own. 

Tracks such as 'Sucker' and 'Eureka Moment' are packed with punch and promise. The foursome are now poised to hit the big time in 2017 with the release of their debut album 'Love In The 4th Dimension' which will undoubtedly continue to impress. 

Black Honey - Headspin

Brighton newcomers, Black Honey have proved themselves to be a thrilling addition to the new music scene. Their April EP release 'Headspin' is a unique collection of tracks that was released in a barn in Normandy over the course of a fortnight. 

Frontwoman, Izzy Phillips demands attention and serves as this generation's answer to Debbie Harry. Phillips and her bandmates are amongst the finest of female-fronted bands to grace 2016 and the title-track proves exactly why. 

With heavy rock elements at work, the four-track EP is full-bodies and energetic. 'All My Pride' was originally released as a stand-alone single but now serves as the EP's clincher.

The Magic Gang at Reading Festival 2016

The young, artsy crowd that's gathered at King's Cross venue, Scala, is exactly what you'd expect of the stereotypical The Magic Gang fan. Decked out in mom jeans, bomber jackets and (mostly ironic) lenses, the average age amongst the huddled masses is 17 and it's a good job security thoroughly checked each and every ID on the way in, as any youngster would sell a limb or two to be part of the riotous crowd assembled in North London this evening. 

The Brighton-dwelling four-piece perceive youth in a way our parents never could, and that's mostly because the band are just out of their teens themselves. Their tracks are littered with references to the things that interest the youth of today the most. Perhaps it's this that makes them so damn appealing or maybe it's their infectiously feel-good melodies, but whatever it is the formula undoubtedly works. 

The Maccabees' Felix White is nestled away in the throngs of the crowd somewhere near the front, there's even rumours of Florence Welch tucked away at the side of the venue but whether anyone actually saw her is a different story. Regardless of the (speculative) star sightings, the focus remains firmly on the matter at hand - what is to become the gig that everyone who wasn't in attendance will wish they'd been there for. 

Jack, Paeris, Angus and Kristian storm straight into 'Lady, Please' after receiving a welcome fit for a superstar and evoking an almighty roar from the already fired-up adolescent crowd. The whole of the ground level never stops bouncing and moshing as sheer mayhem ignites with euphoric renditions of 'She Doesn't See' and the hazy riffs of 'Jasmine'. 

There was no doubt that The Magic Gang had the swelling crowd eating out of the palm of their hands, even when they played new material, such as 'Only Waiting' and 'All This Way' from their recently released second EP. 'She Won't Ghost' incites singalongs of grand proportions and heckles of adoration, which proves they've come on leaps and bounds. A year ago you wouldn't find everyone at their gigs singing the lyrics back to them, but now it's only to be expected. 

As the hit-fuelled set reaches a climax, the group tear through the already adored tones of 'Feeling Better' and 'Alright'. The venue is then reduced to one great, big, heaving mess when the foursome return for an encore to play 'No Fun', which is a reality that looks nothing like its label.

Today's transition to a bigger stage with the most submissive of crowds feels seamless and completely within their capabilities. The universal jubilance at Scala tonight is not one that will be forgotten anytime soon; The Magic Gang have once again evidenced just how unstoppable they are and how effortlessly they own every venue they play.

Brighton bunch, The Magic Gang appear nothing short of magic on their new single 'All This Way'. Taken from their upcoming EP, the band have been sitting on new material for quite some time and they debuted a slice of what's to come on Huw Stephens' Radio 1 show recently. 

They've got an obvious knack for tunes and 'All This Way' is a tasty template to show others how it's done. The sub-four minute cut features jangling riffs and an infectious chorus that crowds will be chanting in mad unison back at them by the time their autumn tour rolls around. 

The Magic Gang are doing a lot of things right and as frontman Jack Kaye sings 'All I really want to know, is how I got all this way on my own' it's easy to see why the foursome are such an effortless draw and how they have come such a long way in a short space of time. Everything they do is crafted with brilliance and their careers are truly soaring as a result of this. There's still so much more to come from this band and that's the exciting part.

THE Wytches, Spring King and The Magic Gang have been announced to play an exclusive gig in Hyde Park, London as part of this year's Barclaycard presents British Summertime Hyde Park 2016. Promising new bands, Shame and Dream Wife also join the bill for what is set to be an exciting night of live music in the capital. 

The event, which has been dubbed, Pop Up In The Park, and will be held on 7th July. A limited number of tickets are on sale and are priced at £10 (plus booking fees).

Headliners, The Wytches are expected to debut material from their recently announced second album 'All Your Happy Live' at the show. If the new tracks are anything like we've seen before, fans will certainly be in for a treat. 

Expect chaos and crowd surfing when Manchester's Spring King take to the stage. The band are currently halfway through a whirlwind year. Their debut 'Tell Me If You Like To' met up to the expectations that were set by their frenzied live shows. It's been over a year since the game-changing radio play of their single 'City' by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 and Hyde Park is the next stop on their quest for success. You'd be crazy to miss them.

The band, who are currently putting the finishing touches to new material, are selling out tours all over the shop and effortlessly owning every venue they play - their gig at Hyde Park is bound to be no exception.

Latitude Festival located in the picturesque Suffolk countryside is always a summer highlight. This year the festival is back with a glittering array of artists for you to knock back a cider or two to and be consistently wowed by. Here's our round-up of who we think you should definitely be sure to catch over the course of the weekend. Thank us later. 

The festival has been running since 2005 and has continued to expand year after year. As one of the biggest and most popular festivals in the UK, the unique festival full of charm returns for another year boasting a stellar line-up with headliners The Maccabees, The National and New Order in tow. These three bands offer something for everyone and music fans will not be disappointed. Expect an attraction of edgy students in New Order's case, whilst The Maccabees will draw in quite the alternative crowd. 

The Maccabees' fourth studio album 'Marks To Prove It' was a spectacular return to form for the band, superbly followed by an extensive UK tour that reinforced why we fell in love with the Brighton-based quintet in the first place. Expect all the hits from fan favourite 'Toothpaste Kisses' to newer bangers such as 'Something Like Happiness' and the crowd pleaser that is 'Pelican'. 

The Lake Stage may be one of the smaller stages at the festival but the line-up is packed with exciting new artists that are ready to make some big noise. Dubbed 'stars of the future' Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens' favourites, Clean Cut Kid will take to the stage for a headline performance on Sunday evening. The Liverpool four-piece have racked up an impressive amount of gigging around the country recently and their rise is unstoppable. Think catchy beats blended with massive choruses and you're halfway there. Be sure to catch their set at the fest as Clean Cut Kid are a band who never disappoint - bonus points as they're undoubtedly one of the genuinely nicest bands around too. 

The Big Moon are a sassy girl band who command your attention with their hook-filled tracks that will have you hitting repeat in seconds. Get down the front for them for sure. Fellow Brighton babes, Fickle Friends are an electro-indie quintet who will provide your summer soundtrack with their shimmery indie gems and are always a treat to catch live. 

Head over to the DIY Alcove Stage to catch The Magic Gang in action with their music that has been described as 'very direct, very sexy, and very good' which is probably the most accurate description of the four-piece who make anthemic bangers ready to induce a mosh and/or sing-a-long session at any given moment. Check them out, they're seriously good. 

If music's not really your thing and you've been brought along by a friend or your partner, then fear not! There's a wide selection of comedy, theatre, dance, poetry, cabaret, film and so much more to please even the pickiest of people so you're in for a treat no matter what your particular tastes may be.

THE Magic Gang are a band who need no introduction. These Brighton babes have made a name for themselves in the and it's one we won't be forgetting in a hurry. The quartet are masters at what they do and it also happens that they are an incredible live act, without fail. 

With the rays from the sun earlier in the day long gone, a packed out crowd gathered in the basement of Brighton's trendiest new venue, Patterns (formerly known as Audio). Support came from Leeds' finest indie pop-rock quartet Vitamin who could certainly give The 1975 a run for their money. 

They're a modern band who are fully suited to slip into the mainstream and win all of our hearts over. Don't believe us? Take tracks such as the infectious 'This Isn't Love' with slick hooks and big beats. The band have recently been announced to play The Corn Exchange at The Great Escape in Brighton next month and if they throw out belter after belter like they did tonight - the crowd are in for a major treat. 

Half an hour or so later the room turned to darkness and as the screams of obsessive fans roared, The Magic Gang took to the stage. Choosing to open with 'Lady, Please' from their last EP, which sees their lively and dedicated mass of fans erupt almost immediately. 'She Doesn't See' follows and frontman, Jack Kaye remarks that he can't see the crowd either. 

Having only formed in 2013, The Magic Gang are undoubtedly one of the best and most exciting bands around at the moment. The sheer volume of their sound is as impressive as they come and the group decided to showcase a selection of blistering new cuts on the night. 

Fresh material, such as the simple, yet explosive melodies of 'Isn't Easy' and compellingly addictive 'All This Way' were bookended between the material that broke them in the first place. In the last six months or so, The Magic Gang's stage presence has undoubtedly improved and leaves the impression that this is a band who are destined to tread stages far bigger than the one they own tonight. 

The Brighton four-piece also debuted new tracks titled 'Only Waiting' and 'Blue For You' which were enthralling and anthemic. The calculated riffs and slick hooks of the numbers were enough to provoke mass mosh pits amongst gig revellers and it appears the barriers at the front of the venue couldn't keep the crowd in check as it tumbled over. Fans spilled onto the stage and the band's monitors and equipment. 

It's strong songs like 'All That I Want Is You' and set closer 'No Fun' that creates the wild live shows that The Magic Gang are fast becoming known for. Not only did they pull off one hell of a homecoming show, they proved their worth as one of Britain's best live bands but it didn't stop drummer Paeris Giles from asking "was it alright?" at the merch stall afterwards. Their 50s-tinged madness is going places and we can't wait for the next show they throw our way.

SPRING is finally in full force and what better way to celebrate than getting yourself down to some of the hottest gigs around. There's a whole lot of live music going down this month and we've got you covered with the best dates at a venue near you. It's always wise to plan ahead when it comes to gigs, so give this month's comprehensive guide a read to discover the musical gems you need to check out over the coming thirty days. 

Wide-eyed Londoners, The Big Moon take to the iconic stage of Southampton's The Joiners on Tuesday 12th for a very special gig. The indie quartet have been building a fairly impressive following with absolute belters in their arsenal of tracks - this is one certainly not to be missed. The band are becoming increasingly well known for their wired, exuberant energy during live sets and this show is set to follow the trend. If you're a fan of Palma Violets, you'll dig this.

Brighton's very own The Magic Gang return to the city for a homecoming gig on Thursday 14th at trendy multi-floor, Patterns. Their last tour went down a storm in the seaside capital and we're excited to see them return with fresh material and banging retro-tinged beats in the way that only they can do best. They're a four-headed beast of tight harmonies, guitar interplay and sickly sweet charm and you'd be a fool to miss them.

Nothing But Thieves stop by Norwich's The Nick Rayns LCR on Wednesday 20th and they promise to deliver huge energy and filthy riffage throughout the night. They're a band that refuse to be pigeon-holed and if you're not yet familiar with them now's the time to get well acquainted, as their popularity is set to increase throughout the latter half of 2016. The ferocious bedlam on offer is definitely one to get down to. It's machine gun music and you better be quick to bag yourself a spot at the front as this band still have so much more to deliver and that's the exciting part.

The final gig you need to add to your gig list is that of British indie upstarts, High Tyde. The Brighton based four-piece are tearing through the industry at whirlwind speeds, captivating all who hear their intoxicating sound. They're a band destined for greater things, however first up is a gig at Brighton's The Haunt on Friday 29th for them. Even the sky isn't the limit to contain this band with their huge choruses and catchy beats and it's their driving riffs that propels the band forward and steers them in the direction of assured future success. Go mental for this massively tasty musical outfit and lock into their sound at The Haunt come the end of the month.

EXPANDING the blueprint laid down on previous tracks, Brighton four-piece, The Magic Gang are back with 'EP' that sees them perfect their soulful 60s tinged brand of dreamy alt-pop. 

With a support slot for Swim Deep's UK tour and headline shows of their own already behind them, 2015 was a successful year for these beach-dwelling babes and just when you thought it couldn't get any better; they go and drop an impressive EP, making us swoon ever harder for their heartfelt, wistful indie cuts. 

Opening with the sultry slow grooves of 'Lady, Please', it's hardly a sweeping love song but it might as well be. This one will definitely get you gazing into the eyes of a loved one. The bassline that threads through the super-mellow, slow-paced tune is ultimately what makes it work the most. 

Live-set staple 'She Doesn't See' has also been included on the EP and we're going all heart-eyed emoji face over it. You'll undoubtedly be singing "She looks up, but she doesn't see..." before you know it and the track acts as an effortless example of The Magic Gang working as an unstoppable unit. 

Third track, 'Jasmine' has been released as a single previously but it sounds as epic as ever with dusky melodies and a complex, yet well-written chorus. 'Feeling Better' is a sensual, come hither of song and we're completely hooked - even if the lyrics do tell a different story. 

Final song, 'All That I Want Is You' is a track built for the cover of darkness and midnight silences when you can really soak it in. It's a glorious conclusion, complete with echoing guitars and an ever poetic quality to their lyricism. 

The release of 'EP' adds another string to The Magic Gang's already brimming bow and with a headline show at The 100 Club in London next month, we can't wait to see what else this band have up their sleeve. The Magic Gang have found their stride and their next steps look to be incredible.

SOUTH coast four-piece Fever are causing exactly what their name entails to sweep across those fortunate enough to listen to their brand of garage fuzz rock. Hailing from Southampton, Fever have been on our radar for a while but now they've gone and dropped a textbook banger in the form of 'Sucker' and we can't get enough of their sound. 

With recent performances at UK festivals such as Truck and Common People already under their belt, the band have also gained coverage supporting the likes of The Magic Gang, Hooton Tennis Club and Pretty Vicious. 

New track 'Sucker' comes at you with an infectious, circling chorus and thrashing guitars, whilst frontman Connor Smith sings "I'm a sucker for you" proving that he can read our minds as we're certainly a sucker for this band. 

There's not a lot of the band's material online for you to listen to, however they're fairly regular on the music scene in Southampton and nearby areas; get yourself down to a gig and show them some love. We predict Fever are about to topple over into a giant puddle of success and you won't want to miss it when they do.

Brighton babes, The Magic Gang kicked their tour off in style at The Hope and Ruin - a bar/live music venue inspired by Eastern European watering holes and decorated entirely out of found objects and gig posters. 

The Strokes have played the venue in the past and it's a place full of character with a lively atmosphere to match; an apt fit for the headliners and their support band, Sheikh, who embody everything you want them to be and more. 

As the room starts to fill up, Sheikh take to the stage and dive straight into 'Fortune'. The five-piece who hail from Bahrain but now reside in London have a sound that can be described as guitar driven psych rock with a little bit of pop thrown in for a twist. 

Whilst they're very much themselves and have an epic stage presence, at times Sheikh have a tendency to sound like The Maccabees mashed with Catfish & The Bottlemen and Bombay Bicycle Club and they own it. Stand-out tracks include 'I Could Be Yours' and their debut track 'Fonda' which impresses with sun-kissed guitars and is laced with a sleek guitar riff. 

A short while later, The Magic Gang grace the venue and smash their way through a setlist of devilishly great tracks including 'Jasmine' from their forthcoming EP. The band have recently been announced as part of DIY magazine's 'Class of 2016' and with good reason, their live set contains a thrilling intensity throughout. 

'No Fun' is a dreamy affair from start to finish that gets the crowd dancing to their searing guitars and polished grooves. Singer and guitarist, Jack Kaye snaps the string on his guitar before telling the crowd "It's okay - I don't use that string anyway." 

Both, The Magic Gang and Sheikh are bands providing reasons to get excited about music again. Their tracks will worm their way into your memory easily and fingers crossed, we'll hear some more material from them soon. The bands are touring together for the rest of December; go show them some love and support at a gig near you.
