Weekly Playlist

This week I have been discovering a love for 70's music so you can expect to find plenty of that, along with the usual new bands I've been listening to. Enjoy!

The Family Rain - Trust Me...I'm A Genius
I spotted this band in NME and from the review gave them a listen instantly. They were much better than I expected. Definitely give them a listen and watch out for them in the future, as I predict this band will be massive next year.
For fans of: The White Stripes, AC/DC, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and The Black Keys.

Iggy Pop - The Passenger
I'm a newbie when it comes to Iggy Pop, after reading about his adventures with ex-NME journalist Nick Kent I had to give him a listen. I loved him straight away. I didn't really expect to like him as much as I did, but it's safe to say I am now hooked on Iggy.
For fans of: David Bowie, The Animals, The Who, Lou Reed and The Kinks.

The Libertines - The Ha Ha Wall
I put my ipod on shuffle last week and this song came on. I had not listened to The Libertines for far too long and thankfully my love for them has been reignited. You may have heard this before but give it another listen. You won't regret it.
For fans of: Babyshambles, Razorlight, The Jam, The Cribs and The Vines.

Pink Floyd - Shine On Your Crazy Diamond
I had never really listened to this band before, although people kept suggesting I should so I gave them a listen. This is one of the songs I liked the best.
For fans of: Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix.

Thomas McConnell - Stop In The Shade
I interviewed this guy a while ago and I am still hooked on his EP. Title track Stop In The Shade is my favourite by far and will ensure that he goes far in the industry.
For fans of: Miles Kane, Eugene McGuinness, The Beatles, The Last Shadow Puppets and Alex Turner.

Have you listened to any of these artists/songs before? Who is your favourite and why? What should I listen to next? Comment below.

  1. I like the sound of Thomas McConnell a lot, is there anywhere where I can find some of his recorded music?
