Preview: Be Nothing Is 5

Brighton's Green Door Store has gained a reputation for putting on some of the best gigs and club nights (who doesn't love free doughnuts?) in the city. This time it's the turn of live promoters, Be Nothing, as they celebrate their fifth birthday and rock the alternative venue on August 7. The promotions duo, who also provide artist management, are roping in a few friends to make the night a success and they want you there too.

With a great line-up, Bleached will headline the event. The Los Angeles quartet have a couple of albums to their name and the recent release of their record 'Welcome the Worms' is sure to provide a decent dose of 60s revivalism with a jagged 70s rock edge to play live. There's similarities to the Runaways era of music, although Bleached manage to make their sound their own and they ace it every step of the way. The raw power of Bleached seems a fitting headline performance to crown Be Nothing's grand celebration.

The upbeat psych-pop of London's Fake Laugh will also feature on the night. The London-based band, who draw their influences from The Beatles, are represented by Be Nothing. Their track 'Mind Tricks' has been described as 'one of those upbeat tracks that will satisfy all of your fuzzy, flanged-out needs.' So if you're looking for a dose of nostalgia-inducing psych rock - look no further than Fake Laugh.

Opening up the night is the wonderful Japanese Breakfast, also known as Michelle Zauner, who comes complete with instrumentally rich indie pop. Her debut full-length, 'Psychopomp' was greeted with rave reviews and hopefully it will receive a similar reaction on the night. It has been said that Zauner's indie pop tracks 'Hums with the warmth of Smashing Pumpkins' and 'Drums plod along behind clumsy guitar, forming the type of musical relationship that charms you right from the first words that leave her mouth.' Expect a slice of purified elation with Japanese Breakfast's set at The Green Door Store in August.

Be Nothing Is 5 is bound to be a wild night and one that is certainly not to be missed. Make sure you get your tickets and get there early to catch exclusive performances from Bleached, Fake Laugh and Japanese Breakfast.

This is an 18+ event and tickets are available to buy here.
