Exam Season have thrown fans a curveball in the form of their new track 'Everything Is Salted Caramel'.

The sweet treat is an unexpected surprise following the release of their debut EP 'Mostly Homely' in June.

The new track features sun-soaked guitar chimes and upbeat rhythms at the forefront. It sees the four-piece take a crack at the age old sentiment that everyone experiences the ups and downs of human life, as they sing: "Everything has to be, sweet and salty".

Frontman Ed Watson explains the title, saying: "A few years back you'd be hard pressed to find salted caramel flavoured paraphernalia anywhere. Now you'll get it in Costa, cake shops, even Toilet Duck! Complete madness.

"But the irresistible combination of bitter salt and sugary sweetness makes for a mouthwateringly-great taste experience, and sometimes you can't get enough of it.

"It's important to have this combo not just in food and drink, but also in relationships and life in general," Watson details.

"There are undoubtedly moments in all relationships (especially long distance ones) where you will love your partner with all your heart, but equal moments where you hate them more than woke teens who watch cool new show Black Mirror and hate technology/the establishment/etc.

"It's important to know this is healthy. At least, more healthy than literal salted caramel."

The tune features lyrics such as: "I love and hate you all the same" and that's undoubtedly a feeling that most people can relate to. It's life, it happens and Exam Season add new energy to those shared feelings.

Exam Season will support Dream Wife and Girl Ray at Kamio in London tomorrow (15 December).

'Everything Is Salted Caramel' is released on Art Is Hard Pin's Pal Club on 16 December, and is available to pre-order now.
