The xx urge us to 'Say Something Loving'

It's not long until The xx release from their forthcoming third album, I See You, but the Wandsworth trio have dropped a track from the album, 'Say Something Loving', to tide us over in the meantime.

"Before it slips away..." they begin on the new track, which follows on from where previous release 'On Hold' left off.

'Say Something Loving' is a shimmering and uplifting number that builds on the band's already existing blissed out sound.

The xx's initial offerings from I See You are instantly engaging and have set them up in good stead to release the record. Let's hope the rest of the tracks are in the same vein.

The new album has been described by the trio themselves as "open and expansive" in comparison to their previous albums, and it's not too difficult to see how they've progressed.

Progress was always inevitable for a band who have spent such a long time perfecting their newest body of work.

I See You was recorded between March 2014 and August 2016 in New York, Texas, Reykjavik, Los Angeles and London and was produced by the band's Jamie Smith, as well as Rodaidh McDonald.
