Clay sound as heavenly as ever on new track 'Saint'

Leeds quartet Clay have dropped their newest track, 'Saint', ahead of their upcoming Live At Leeds performance, and it sees them sounding as heavenly as ever.

The new cut has been a long time in the works and opens with an electronic riff and striking lyricism in the form of: "You only call me when it's half past wine". It's a feeling most people can relate to and one that Clay's enthusiastic and ever-growing fanbase will eat up.

The remainder of the sub four-minute track is relatively easy-listening and consistently catchy. Distorted vocals are mixed with mechanic drums that results in a futuristic feeling to the tune.

'Saint' sees Clay progress from the straight-up brand of indie they advocated on previous single '6am' and whilst it doesn't signal a complete change in direction for the band, it's refreshing to see them switch it up and take their sound elsewhere - even for the briefest of flings.

Take a listen to 'Saint' below

Get To Know: Clay

Yorkshire four-piece, Clay formed in 2014 from a desire to escape the mundane routine of everyday life in their hometown Leeds. Now the group are gaining coverage in all the right places and touring extensively to get their name out there even further.

Debut single 'Sun Dance' hits all the right notes with bouncy riffs and memorable songwriting at the foundation. Brothers, Joe and Jack Harvey are responsible for the lyricism with Rob Gration and Danny Armitage making up the rest of the band.

Cuts such as 'Stay Calm' shares a similar direction to the electronic beats of The 1975 and the bewitching 'Oxygen' is a standout track that grooves effortlessly with neat riffs that you'll be recalling for quite some time.

Clay have toured with High Tyde previously and have received airplay on major national stations such as Radio 1 and XFM. Look out for Clay sizzling infectiously with their vibrant indie numbers at a venue near you soon; this is a band set to make a big impact.
