THE Wytches, Spring King and The Magic Gang have been announced to play an exclusive gig in Hyde Park, London as part of this year's Barclaycard presents British Summertime Hyde Park 2016. Promising new bands, Shame and Dream Wife also join the bill for what is set to be an exciting night of live music in the capital.

The event, which has been dubbed, Pop Up In The Park, and will be held on 7th July. A limited number of tickets are on sale and are priced at £10 (plus booking fees).

Headliners, The Wytches are expected to debut material from their recently announced second album 'All Your Happy Live' at the show. If the new tracks are anything like we've seen before, fans will certainly be in for a treat.

Expect chaos and crowd surfing when Manchester's Spring King take to the stage. The band are currently halfway through a whirlwind year. Their debut 'Tell Me If You Like To' met up to the expectations that were set by their frenzied live shows. It's been over a year since the game-changing radio play of their single 'City' by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 and Hyde Park is the next stop on their quest for success. You'd be crazy to miss them.

The Magic Gang are also firm favourites of ours and they've really come into their own over the last twelve months or so. The band, who are currently putting the finishing touches to new material, are selling out tours all over the shop and effortlessly owning every venue they play - their gig at Hyde Park is bound to be no exception.

If you're after a cracking low-cost night out, Hyde Park is where it's at. Get down there and see some of Britain's most promising new bands in an intimate setting before they take to stages ten times the size.

Spring King 'Tell Me If You Like To'

MANCHESTER indie DIY upstarts, Spring King are a clattering band of misfits who play with such a force that has taken the industry by storm and set them in a sonic direction. Their 2015 release 'City' was championed by Zane Lowe as the first track to be played on his Beats 1 show and the band have never looked back.

Since then momentum has continued to increase for the four-piece with numerous packed out tours in intimate UK venues and major slots at festivals on a global scale, Spring King hit all the right notes with their tectonic urgency and their debut album 'Tell Me If You Like To' sees them truly finding their stride and sticking to it.

Previous hit 'City' kickstarts proceedings on the album that could easily be likened to a full-bodied beast of grungy hook-filled tracks rattling along at breakneck speed. The collection continues on to the ever so catchy 'Detroit' which finds them operating as the supremely confident and self-assured as ever. It's an impressive feat for a band so young in age but they pull it off time and time again.

Spring King are a band who seem to be able to write a whole clutch of consistently brilliant songs at will and this album is testament to their credibility. Look no further than the infectiously hook driven 'It's So Dark' with a circling chorus and toe-tapping beat that will have you humming it away all day. 'Demons' is an indie triumph of a track with its anthemic verses throughout that will no doubt go down a treat with the crowds on their upcoming festival and autumn tour dates. Their work ticks so many boxes it's hard to count all of the reasons why we love them so much and major tunes such as 'Rectifier' and 'The Summer' provides more and more reasons to fall in love with them (if you haven't already).

Spring King's eagerly awaited debut full-length is a masterpiece you'll want to leave on repeat for as long as possible. Their youthful, and at times restless energy, is a record they needed to get out of their system and we're so glad they did. Expect to hear their hits chanted in unison over the coming months, if they continue as they are, they're in for a promising future with their brand of all-embracing anthems.

Live At Leeds Festival 2016 Preview

OVER the past decade or so, Live At Leeds has become a staple of the finest music events the North has to offer. Each spring, thousands of music fans and festival goers alike converge to the city in Yorkshire for the multi-venue event spread across Leeds city centre.

Back for its 10th anniversary, this year's festival promises to be as spectacular as ever and with a stellar line up to match. Here's our rundown of the best of the best and the acts you simply can't afford to miss over the course of the weekend.

London four-piece, Beach Baby are dominating the indie rock scene right now with their brand of slick shoe-gaze inspired tunes. Featuring on almost every festival line-up you can think of this summer, their performance is sure to rocket them to a new level of success.

Clean Cut Kid have been hailed as ones to watch time and time again and now is your chance to catch them in Leeds for another of their unforgettable performances. The Liverpool quartet's material has previously been described as: "soulful pop ballads, washed in Mersey water." Having received acclaim and national airplay with the likes of previous singles 'Runaway' and 'Vitamin C' what's not to love?

If you haven't heard of Circa Waves before, then now is the time to familiarise yourself with them as they're on an unstoppable rise. If last year's headline gig at London's O2 Academy Brixton is anything to go by, these lads are going to continue to have one hell of a year and the first stop is conquering their Live At Leeds set. Their debut album 'Young Chasers' was received to monumental and universal acclaim and since then the Liverpudlian band have gone on to play to packed out tents at Reading, as well as an appearance at Glastonbury Festival. Make your way down to the front to sing your heart out to hits such as 'Stuck In My Teeth' and 'T-Shirt Weather'.

Manchester's very own, Spring King are making the journey to Leeds and you bet they'll be pulling out all their stops for their set. The four-piece post-punk band began as a solo project in 2012 but have achieved so much since then. Their previous headline tour proved just how adored they are in the hearts of the nation's music fans. With a record deal from Island Records under their belt, the band's hit cut 'City' was the first track to be played on Beats 1 by Zane Lowe.

Indie-pop four-piece Vitamin are a brew of Leeds' very own homegrown talent, which they'll be showcasing live at the festival. Previous tour buddies include the likes of Sundara Karma and Nothing But Thieves and an impressive resume of gigs backs them solidly too. The band have indicated at a promising future with "colourful shades of guitar tones and slick poppy grooves." If you're a fan of Peace or Foals; you'll be all over Vitamin.

Live At Leeds Festival 2016 will take place on 30th April.

Tickets are available to buy from £35.75 here.

WHAT a month January was for gigs but February looks set to be bigger and better with all the gigs that are lined up. Whether they're local to you or not, make an effort to get down to the epic array of live shows we're tipping for this month. You won't be disappointed.

Fresh from supporting The Libertines on their UK arena tour, northern indie four-piece The Sherlocks are heading out on their headline tour in February and what a run that looks set to be. Catch the group responsible for the rumble of tracks such as 'Live for the Moment' and 'Heart of Gold' at The Joiners in Southampton on Thursday 4th for a night of indie bangers and madness. The group have evolved superbly over the last year or so and now the promise of a bright future beckons so get down to Hampshire's iconic venue and see them. Why wouldn't you?

Tickets are £7.70 in advance and can be bought here

South Wales four-piece, Pretty Vicious have gone from strength to strength recently and are definitely going somewhere big but first they're stopping by Dingwalls in Camden on Thursday 11th for a headline performance as part of NME's Awards Shows 2016. This is one not to be missed as they tear through hits such as 'It's Always There' and 'National Plastics' that have already been released to national acclaim.

Tickets are £11.66 in advance and can be bought here.

Brighton's The Hope and Ruin plays host to mind-boggling Mancunians, Spring King on Wednesday 17th. The band are on a rapid rise and are producing a romantic post-punk sound that begs to be heard. Having previously toured with Slaves, the spotlight if firmly fixed on them now and we can't wait to witness them impress on the night.

Tickets are £7.70 in advance and can be bought here.

The infectious, upbeat indie of Fickle Friends are set to cement their position as worthy headliners at The Joiners in Southampton on Friday 19th. Everything they do sizzles infectiously with glory and ambition. Every track is a stand-out, however it's the likes of 'Say No More' and 'Could Be Wrong' that we're looking forward to hearing aired on the night the most. The five-piece, led by front gal Natti, are already conjuring up a storm and in the industry and with a record deal under their belts, they're going stadium.

Tickets are £7.70 in advance and can be bought here

Symptomatic of the times are Little Comets, the indie quartet from Newcastle Upon Tyne, who inject funk-based fretwork fused with modern issues into the core of their tracks. The band will be bringing their catalogue of hits to Brighton's Concorde 2 on Sunday 21st and it's set to be a sell out; bag yourself a ticket whilst you still can.

Tickets are £13.20 in advance and can be bought here.

The Joker in Brighton experiences a triple threat in the form of Sahara, Cavaliers and Howland as part of a special show by CloseUp Promotions. All three groups on the bill are Brighton-based and ready to thrill with impressive riffs and huge choruses. As some of the sweetest bands of the South Coast at the moment, you'd be foolish to miss these promising acts in an intimate setting before they really make it big, as we predict will happen soon enough.

Tickets are £5 and can be bought on the door.

Spring King

MANCHESTER four-piece Spring King are producing a romantic post-punk sound that begs to be heard. Their conception occurred back in 2012 when they were initially formed as a side project for LIPA (The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) graduate and lead singer/drummer/producer Tarek Musa. Since then, busting ears and winning hearts has become a speciality and we're excited to see what's to come from the band who are currently on tour with rock duo Slaves.

The title-track from their second EP 'Demons' sounds remarkably similar to Palma Violets in places, however the quality is beyond comparison. With intense drumming and a lush guitar solo thrown in for good measure. Spring King show us exactly why we should get pumped for their future. The track is a near-perfect slice of brilliance and features epic riffs that cascade and collide as the sub-four minute cut winds on.

Unsurprisingly, the band have caught the attention of other artists such as The Wytches and Twin Peaks who they travelled to the US with as part of CMJ Festival. Another huge feat for them is that they were the first band ever to be played on Apple's global live streamed radio station, Beats 1. The track that was broadcasted was the incredibly catchy 'City' - a fuzz-rock number with gigantic hooks that certainly crank up the frenzy for Spring King.

Speaking to WIRED.co.uk after their track was played, Tarek Musa said that the "online reaction has been quite crazy," and that "it's been really positive, a lot of people who have never heard the song before had an opportunity to hear it and are really enjoying it."

Their sound is a mixture of style and substance rolled into one and they don't pussyfoot around. With their glaze firmly fixed forward, the devastatingly accomplished four-piece have announced a tour to take place in February next year; you should definitely get down to one of their gigs and check them out if you haven't already.
