Get To Know: Voodoo And The Crypts

Brighton-based Essex natives Voodoo And The Crypts are an indie foursome comprised of Matt Mitchell on guitar and vocals, Jordan Woolnough also on guitar, Rob Davies on bass and Sam Webb responsible for the racket behind the drum kit. They put out slow-building, hook-driven numbers that are going down a storm on the ever-increasing Brighton music scene.

With a hint of psych here and a synth or two scattered there, the four-piece are a complete package of a band and sound remarkably similar to The 1975 at moments. Mitchell's slick vocals are easily comparable to that of Healy's and glistening hooks and tropical melodies take centre stage on 'Breathe'.

Voodoo And The Crypts already sound like a well seasoned outfit and they've been gigging relentlessly throughout the South Coast city recently. Songs like 'Hawaii' and 'Breathe' set an early precedent for what's to come from the lads in the future and an impressive cover of Drake's 'Hold On, We're Going Home' has garnered even more attention for a band full of promise and excitement. We can't wait to see where they go from here.

Catch Voodoo And The Crypts at Together The People Festival in Preston Park, Brighton in September.
