Kickstarting her musical career at age 6, she wrote and performed a track for the England team at the 2006 World Cup. Fast forward eight years or so and Selvey had just recorded her first demo tape but wasn't sure how to get people to take notice of her talents. Cue Doug Morris - CEO of Sony Music.
The music mogul passed her on to Janice Brock, who signed the young musician almost instantaneously and momentum has been building ever since.
Explaining the meaning of the track, she says: "It's all about getting through life, without getting dragged down." That's something most people can relate to and the accessibility of her lyrics is another appealing factor.
Carys Selvey's debut EP is set to be released sometime this year, via Sony ATV, and we're very much looking forward to seeing this rising British talent soar higher and witness her evocative pop songwriting evolve as she matures.
