September In Brief

With freshers' week only a matter of days away and children of school age returning back to the confines of the playground, September promises to be a cracking month for gigs and tours in Brighton. We've got you covered with all the essential info you need and who to see over the coming month, so get down to your local venue and support some upcoming artists; you won't be disappointed.

Loyal music fans will be heading over to Brighton's Preston Park for a weekend of music courtesy of Together The People on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th. The festival, now in its second year, will feature headline performances from Brian Wilson performing 'Pet Sounds' and 80s Britpop masters, Suede.

Local heroes, Fickle Friends will also take to the stage alongside The Horrors, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, MarthaGunn, Skinny Living, Egyptian Blue, Atlas Wynd, The Island Club, Mother Me and so many more local artists and established acts. If you're missing The Great Escape, then this festival offers another chance to get up close with the bands who will be topping the bills of major festivals in years to come. Grab it whilst you can.

Weekend and day tickets are still available and can be bought here

Brooklyn four-piece, Mothxr are heading to The Green Door Store on Friday 10th for a show with support from Natives and Fairchild. The band have previously toured with Polica and The Neighbourhood but this headline tour will see the spotlight firmly fixed on them. If you're a Gossip Girl fan then you'll know that Penn Badgley, who played Dan Humphrey on the hit American TV drama, fronts the band. Catch the band in action at the intimate venue.

Tickets are £8.50 and can be bought here

Los Angeles power-rock duo, Deap Vally are set to conquer Concorde 2 on Wednesday 21st when they debut new material from their second album live at the seafront venue. This gig has been a long time coming and we haven't seen a show from the group on British shores for quite some time. Their music is as much about attitude as it is heavy guitar and fast-paced drums - expect the unexpected. Support comes from The Velveteers

Hampshire four-piece, Habitats are putting on a free-entry gig at The Green Door Store on Tuesday 27th. Armed with local lads Lion Bark in the support slot, both are promising, upcoming acts and it won't be long before you're hearing a lot more of them. Get down and show some support.

Entry to this event is free.

Glasgow's Honeyblood are heading down South to Patterns for a hugely-anticipated gig. The scuzz-pop duo will visit the venue on Thursday 29th so spice up your evening and be sure not to miss them. They've been garnering attention and coverage in all the right places for a while now and have certainly amassed a faithful fan base. You'd be mad to miss them.
